The First Painting

"Before there was a website idea for a shop, or even the idea of one, there was a cardboard box. Yes, a cardboard box. It's called creativity. I don't know what you're projecting, but just so we're clear - I'm a psychic artist, too. If you believe that, I may have something else to sell you. Anyways

It was my daughter's heavenly birthday, the day I set aside each year to celebrate her, my guardian angel, even though she was with me only briefly. I wanted to give her something, the way I always imagine giving her gifts. So I cut a piece of cardboard into a small canvas shape, and I painted her an aquarium, the kind of gift I always wanted when I was a little girl.

It wasn't perfect. It was cardboard, after all. But something about it, the colors, the care I put into every stroke, felt like more than just a painting. It felt like love, made visible.

A Journey of Creation

I couldn't leave it there. I wanted to do better for her. So the following day I bought a real canvas, and I painted the aquarium again, this time with everything I had. That piece became "Deep Blue Beauty," the aquarium painting you can find in my boutique today. I suppose the name fits in more ways than one. After all these years, my love for my daughter still runs as deep as the deep blue sea - and even deeper.

Not long after, family and friends who came to visit started noticing the canvases filling my walls. More aquariums, more pieces born from that same feeling. They kept telling me the same thing - you should sell these. I laughed it off at first. "I can't paint an original for everyone who wants one." (Apparently, "no" wasn't the answer they were looking for.) So I said, "Fine! Who wants one? "Don't all line up at once."

The Spark of an Idea

That's when someone explained digital printing to me, that my paintings could become wall art. I still wasn't sure. So I mentioned it to a close confidant, someone I've spoken about in other posts here, and asked what he thought about it. He didn't overthink it. He just said, "Do it." I remember thinking, wow, for two words, that hit different.

So here I am, and here we are, because I just did it. "Turns out, 'Do it' worked."

The Heart of Art

Art is more than just a product. It's a connection. It’s a way to share emotions, stories, and memories. Each piece I create carries a part of my heart. I believe that art should resonate with everyone who sees it. It should invite you in, make you feel at home, and inspire you to dream.
